Game Notes:

    Topeka Stars open the fall 2011 season with Hutch at Hesston Community College in a 12:30pm game. For not having hardly any time to practice thus far they didn’t play badly. Stars had a 5-1 lead going in to the bottom of the 2nd when they had one of those innings and gave up 9 runs of which only 2 were earned as the Stars committed 5 errors in the game. Dustin Michaelis was the opening day pitcher and as mentioned only gave up 2 earned runs in his 2 innings pitched, Aaron Shugart came in to finish the game and threw 2 nice innings allowing no runs and no hits while striking out 3. From the plate the Stars out hit Hutch 7-4 with TJ Perez leading the way with 2 hits including a double. Tyler Holen also added the 1st homerun of the season. Stars will next face BTL in a 5:30pm game.
