Game Notes:

In game one of the JUCO showcase hosted this year by the JC Hornets at Johnson County 3&2 fields #1 and #2, the Topeka Stars Blue team gets matched up with the Wichita Sluggers in a 1:30pm game that saw the Stars roster depleted due to football, KU camp, and the flu the Stars were missing 8 players and yet still came out on top.

Stars starting pitcher Buster Reddick gives the Stars four solid innings from the mound allowing just 2 runs on 3 hits and strikes out 3 along the way to pick up his first win of the fall season.  Wes Burdiek comes in to pick up his first save of the year as he pitches the final 3 innings allowing just 4 hits and 2 earned runs and strikes out 4. The Stars defense that featured Stars Gray team center fielder Scott Proctor making his first appearance on the Blue team in the field plays solid baseball allowing just 1 error in the game.

From the plate the Stars out hit the Sluggers 10-7 and Chris Bervert leads the way with a 2 for 3 performance that included a double and a triple.  Tyler Mottley and Scott Proctor both add 2 hits a piece with Mottley adding a double to the mix and both Tyler NItcher and Aaron Starr pick up doubles in the game.

So the Stars open the weekend with a win and move to 7-5 overall on the season as they next get set to take on the KC Barnstormers in a 4pm start time on field #2 which will see the use of wood bats for the first time this fall.
